From 25th to 27th April 2008, Cadets from 494 took part in the annual Essex Wing Falklands Memorial Trophy. 27 teams from across Essex took part in a gruelling competition with events ranging from obstacle course training to archery and shooting. 494 Sqn was also the first Squadron in the history of the competition to field three competing teams.
The 494 Sqn A Team finished third overall and will go onto represent the Air Cadets at the Tri-Service Falklands Trophy in June. They will compete for the trophy on the Army training area at Crowborough against the Army and Sea Cadets.
