During early May 2007 the unit ran a general training and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme weekend. The venue was Carver Barracks near Saffron Walden. Cadets enjoyed a jam packed three days of training. Friday night and Saturday were spent on L98 dry and live weapons training giving all personnel the chance to familiarize themselves with the weapon and basic marksmanship principles. Saturday and Sunday formed the expedition and assessment part of the weekend with Cadets taking part in a 35km expedition. The weekend was not without its fair share of odd weather – Sunday brought bright sunshine and Monday horizontal rain!
