Mission Statement of 494 (Stansted Airport) Squadron
Civilian Welfare Committee
‘…. To provide financial and administrative support to the unit’s management team to help achieve operational training requirements…’
The 494 Sqn Civilian Welfare Committee (CWC) plays an integral role in supporting the unit. The CWC assists in finding accommodation, fundraising and even providing additional members of staff as and when required. Part of the unit’s mission statement is to provide staff and cadets with opportunities and activities and as such providing personnel with challenging opportunities and specifically their funding falls within the remit of the CWC. As an example the unit recently embarked upon a tour of the French and Belgian First World War battlefields, this was partly funded by the CWC following a fundraising campaign. The unit is currently fundraising for a major overseas Duke of Edinburgh expedition in 2008. Recent fundraising activities include charity golf days, bag packing at Homebase and market stalls.
CWC members are typically parents of current or former cadets, retired ex-servicemen or ex-members of staff. The CWC meets once a month and an AGM is held annually. If you are interested in joining the units CWC and have a minimum of 2 hours a month to commit please click here to apply.
